ACADEMY FAQ

Q

How Do I Book a Lesson?

A

The first step is to choose an instructor, and visit their bio page on this website. When you’ve chosen an instructor (for assistance please contact Todd Halpen) you can select the lesson package and click the link to be directed to our booking program, USCHEDULE. When you purchase a lesson package on the USchedule website, lesson credits will be allocated to your account and you can book directly into your instructors schedule.

Q

What if I Don’t See an Available Time?

A

Once you’ve purchased the lessons, you might find the schedules to be limited. Please add your name to the waitlist for a particular day that works for you. Leave the time frame in the comments box during that process. We work hard to manage schedules and this really does assist our scheduling abilities significantly, and you get your lessons!

Q

Where Are These Lessons?

A

The lessons take place at Golfuture YYC in Calgary. We have a main teaching area (Stalls 101-107) at the North side of the range, or the South Academy. If you’re not sure where the lessons are going to be located that day, please contact your instructor or the pro shop at 403-640-3555.

Q

What Are the Age Groups for the Junior Camps?

A

  • U7 – Ages 4-6
  • U11 – Ages 7-10
  • U15 – Ages 11-15

Q

How Much Time Should We Have Between Lessons?

A

We recommend 2 weeks between sessions, but it has more to do with how much practice and progress you’re making. We can also spend time working on other areas of your game, if you were needing a few lessons in a shorter time frame.

Q

Do You Teach Semi-Private Lessons?

A

Coaches Todd and Jamie only teach 2 players maximum in the private lesson environment, any more and we recommend a group class. Alan, Brian, Tom and Matt do teach some Semi-Private groups, please refer to their page and pricing for more details.

Q

What Happens if I Miss a Class?

A

There are no make-up classes or adjusted rates for missed classes. The instructor will do their best to review the lesson topics at the start of the next class, and likely can take a quick minute and share with you what might be especially relevant for your game.

Q

Can Adults and Juniors Take Lessons Together?

A

It’s normal to want to do an activity with your kids, but youth learn very differently than adults. We would not be able to do our job to the best we can if we can’t adjust our teaching style to match the client. It is our recommendation that lessons occur separately, and then the family can go PLAY the game together. If a parent wants to attend a private lesson, we recommend they do so in the 3rd and 4th lessons of a 4-pack only.

Q

What Kinds of Technology Do You Use in the Lessons?

A

Each coach and player have their own teaching and learning styles; please refer to each instructors page to get a sense of what technologies they’ll implement in lessons.

Golfuture YYC is proud to have technology such as Trackman, Boditrak and SuperSpeed Golf.

Q

When Should I Arrive for My Lesson?

A

You should be ready to begin your lesson at its scheduled start time. We suggest arriving 5-10 minutes before your lesson to prepare.
